Yoma Land plans to introduce a fresh market and transport terminal at the StarCity project in Thanlyin, according to the Yoma Land newsletter.
Following surveys and a feasibility study, management at Yoma Land has decided to build a public transport terminal at StarCity.
The survey also identified a need for additional amenities, such as a fresh market and a food court, to be included in the masterplan.
The fresh market, named “The Hangar”, will have stalls to sell fresh meat, fish and local produce, food stores, and kitchen necessities. There will also be a mini food court.

Yoma held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Jetty project in June. The project is expected to be operational before April 2021.
Following the jetty completion, a new ferry service will launch connecting Star City to Yangon downtown.
A jetty has been discussed for some time for Star City but is technically difficult due to the shallow, shifting condition of the Yangon and Bago rivers near the development.
Yoma Land is pushing for the market project to be finished by the end of 2020 and plans for the bus terminal to follow shortly after.
The new transport terminal will have buses to the Yangon city centre and east towards Thilawa SEZ.
Yoma Land expects the addition of transport amenities at StarCity will not only increase the livability of the estate but also will raise the property prices.
In recent years, StarCity has seen declining uptake and prices due to the overall slow down in the real estate sector and increasing competition in Yangon’s condominium market.

Star City is one of the largest residential developments in the greater Yangon area. The development covers 135 acres, with plans calling for 10,000 homes and 1.7 million sq ft of commercial space on completion.
The development is targeted at the mid-range market and has attracted large numbers of expatriate Myanmar buyers. The developers also offer a rental management service to landlords.
Zone A and B with five residential buildings each were completed in 2014 and 2015 respectively. Two galaxy towers of Zone C were finished in 2018.
Myanmar Real Estate & Construction Monitor notes Yoma Land recently launched Star Villas @ Star City, a high-end detached housing development. Star Villas comprising 24 single homes built on 6,400 sq ft plots, and other four customised plots. The company aims to complete Star Villas by early next year.
Yoma Land also introduced a new mass-market project with 11 towers called “City Loft” in 2018. So far, City Loft has launched seven towers.
City Loft has a range of offerings from studios to 3-bedroom apartments. Prices range from Ks50m to Ks160m.
